The AFCS on these jets is amazing. They will not allow you to crash them unless you turn it off, at which point you are flying a wild animal that will happily fly backwards. They have terrain avoidance and will pull you out of a dive automatically. I'm not surprised it flew so far. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if these things flew home and landed automatically after an ejection.
