And many times the parents remember their experiences as kids and it gives them warm fuzzies.
With respect to adult fantasy, none of those shows has the deep cultural hold Star Wars or Star Trek likely from kids watching these with their parents and wanting to be like Luke or Leia and Han.
Bridgerton might be good (or not) but it’s not family entertainment. Neither is Squid Game.
My guess is that most adults will consider these fantasy worlds either sad or just a curiosity and won’t have the same enthusiasm as Disney or Universal.
There's also those of us who don't have kids, don't want them and would love to go to a theme park without dealing with 5 year olds crying or toddlers throwing tantrums.
Judging by the website [1] this is an expansion of an "experiences" business that seems to have been running for a couple years, though I had never heard of it. On cursory inspection, they do things like Bridgerton themed tea parties at swanky hotels [2].
Which gives it some context and makes it seem less out of the blue than I had originally thought.
We really do live in the age of slop.
