Can we get rid of those damned binding arbitration clauses next? I still can't believe (U.S.) employers are allowed to use coercion to take away an employees right to the court system.

When I have left previous jobs, I feel as if the severance was given in exchange for signing something saying I would never tell anyone of the horrors inside the company. This leads me to believe that within a few years we'll see that there will be no more severance.

dang I just refused to sign one of these and gave up severance pay just for this very reason

“Just” may be soon enough to be worth a chat with a lawyer. Legally unenforceable contract might be retrospectively invalid… or the company might just cough up to avoid hassle depending on the payment size.

yeah I dunno, they didn’t need to offer anything technically, I would feel too unprofessional giving them trouble tbh, call it a personality flaw but I only want to provide value and get paid, it’s just a bummer that the legal system makes them have to treat employment like a liability instead of a mutual relationship between gentlemen

I’d be on the phone to my lawyer
