Someone should take that and submit it upstream.

Intel is fine too, for some uses.

"out of the frying pan into the fire"...

I'd like to avoid wasm too...

To each their own. Anything that frees people from the misery of JavaScript and front end frameworks is a good thing in my book.

I always hope for "just a bunch of if statements" ... this is not it.

Symbolic AI?

I had some AI courses in uni in early 2010s and we were the last cohort that had Prolog and Logic Based AI.

Most interesting project was the final semester where we competed in teams to create the best team of bots for UE3 CTF.

it's if {} else if {} else {}

Depending on what you are doing, the above is not necessarily bad.. often much better than an SQL that locks an entire table (potentially blocking the whole DB, if this is one of the key tables).

I wish also for desktop vs laptop ram comparison.

For me, OOM effectively crashes my system 90% of the time, usually caused by firefox (chromium too), if a website goes out of control (rarely it's caused by too many pages open, as tab discarding takes care of that).

Abstraction isn't free... even if you had the correct abstraction and the tools to remove the parts you don't need for deployment, there is still the cost of understanding and compiling.

There is also the cost reason, somebody trying to sell an abstraction will try to monetize it and this means not everyone will want/be able to use it (or it will take forever/be unfinished if it's open/free).

There's also the platform lockin/competition aspect...

Not even close. Except maybe in Rust /s

For rustaceans missing that /s, if you just use Relaxed ordering everywhere and you aren't sure why, but hey tests pass on x86, then yeah on arm it may have a problem. On x86 it effectively is SeqCst even if you specify Relaxed.

They are now for this project... should be hidden.
