I look forward to Escapade Blue and Gold returning, I plan to have a look at them with my X band setup. I'm running a 1.2m offset, which is significantly larger than the 60cm Daniel was using here.
Oh dear, you're correct. the 60cm antennas are on the sats themselves. Still, I might be able to get enough signal to see carrier, and maybe more given they'll be coming at us instead of going away next time around.
I don't believe the Internet Archive would be described as social media. I do believe the quote you provided is referring to the Instagram posts being archived on the Internet Archive, not that the journalist in question expected Instagram to be a sound archive strategy. It's the fact that the posts disappeared on archive.org that's a concern imho, not that Meta arbitrarily deleted a profile.
The US DoD has stated it plans to stop disseminating products from the DMSP constellation that is critical to hurricane forecasting by August. The SatDump team has since spent significant efforts to build out the decoder.
