Stanford is such a great resource. I've been watching some of their lectures from some very wise people in the business world on YouTube. Eye-opening insights, to be sure!
I think it means they'll get more of a say in the companies YC invests in, and they probably will get to share in the profits of such investments. Much more involvement than other roles.
I think it's priceless to be able to look your kids in the eyes and say we bought a car for our family that helps make the planet better for you when you grow up. And supporting a company that is trying to do that is well worth spending more.
If it makes you feel better, then great. But realize that any amount of individual actions isn't going to make a difference. We need action taken by governments.
Wow, that's tough. I have heard that when a biz scales, sometimes the early employees don't fit as well, because the skills needed are different than when first starting out. To get things going you do a lot of everything, and later they need specialists. How passionate are you about this startup? What does your co-founder think? You would think there could be some role you could fit into, maybe COO? Depending on its success I would hold your ground , or they should be willing to buy you out or something. Best wishes!
Great advice. When you're that young you barely know who you are, let alone figure out your life's calling. I'd just add that every step along your career journey (no matter how random or seemingly insignificant) will help you get there.
We make a lot of choices like that as a family too. Definitely makes a difference in our quality of life. We don't have cable, don't over-schedule our kids with lessons and sports they don't even like. What happened to just playing with the kids in the neighborhood until dark? ;)
Yup. Man I remember my childhood and it was awesome ... no planned sports, regular family meal times and plenty of time to just play or read or ride my bike or walk for miles in the local fields. I try to provide something close to this for my kids.
Step number one: no TV!
Step number two: remind them that boredom is life's way of encouraging them to be more creative!
I love the idea! I just had a hard time removing items from the list that I didn't want, and I couldn't find how to check out/pay for the items. I couldn't scroll over to see the right side of the site. Hope you carry more brands soon too! Best wishes! :)
